The 10/11 CSLL All-Stars opened pool play with a 5-1 victory over Fort Hunt Little League. CSLL used the two-headed pitching dynamo of Alex Grehawick and Andrew Pohlmeier to shut down the Fort Hunt offense. Alex pitched 3 2/3 innings with 4 strikeouts and Andrew finished the game while recording 3 K’s. Each pitcher allowed only one hit. Even when Fort Hunt managed to put the ball in play, Alex and Andrew induced weak contact, as they recorded 6 outs (3 each) on comebackers to the mound. While Alex and Andrew did most of the work on their own, catcher Eric Fila made an outstanding play to catch a foul pop-up behind the plate in the 4th inning. Offensively, Elias McGavin got things started with a lead-off double in the first inning and came home on Alex Grehawick’s sacrifice fly. Tyler Gorham added a clutch 2-run double to the gap in left center with 2 outs in the 3rd inning. After an error brought home another run, Justice Fortson plated another run with a single up the middle.
